Job Title: Babysitter

FLSA Status: Non Exempt

Reports to: Relationship Manager Revision Date: 04/08/2022

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Babysitter is responsible for the care and well-being of children ages 6 weeks through 8 years whose parents/guardians are using YMCA programs or facilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Provides supervision and care for children. ACTIVELY interacts with all children in the facility in order to provide children and their parents with a high-quality experience at the YMCA.

2. Builds relationships with members. Greets parents as they enter the room, introducing themselves by name.

3. Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and the YMCA.1. Handles and resolves member concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.

2. Interprets and applies all YMCA babysitting policies in the performance of their duties.

3. Completes Accident/Incident Reports as required.

4. Attends monthly staff meetings.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED, and First Aid.

2. Excellent interpersonal, decision-making and problem solving skills.

3. Ability to maintain composure during emergencies.

4. Must possess the competence and confidence to supervise a safe environment for all members, program participants, volunteers and staff.

5. Must have the physical capability to lift and carry 30 pounds. Physical stamina to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This work requires the following activities: bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual acuity. He/She must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods of time. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

TRAINING AND CERTIFICATIONS:

If applicable, must complete CPR and AED certifications no later than 30 days after employment begins. All staff must complete State, Federal, and Child Abuse clearances no later than 30 days after employment begins.
